International House Language Center - Kharkiv is a nonprofit organization,
whose aims are to encourage the learning of foreign languages (mainly English)
and provide quality language instruction. Its history dates back to 1990,
when Streamline Linguistic Center was started. In 1994, with financial aid
from the International Renaissance Foundation,
it was reorganized, and in 1996 affiliated to the International House World Organization.
International House - Kharkiv has an extensive curriculum, with multi-level
courses of General English, Professional English and English for Specific
Purposes,as well as Teacher Training courses.
International House teachers are among the most highly qualified and respected
in the teaching profession. The IH-Kharkiv team of over 20 teachers has been
specially trained to adapt the teaching methods to any learning situation.
Extra-curricular activities at IH-Kharkiv comprise a number of clubs (English
Song Club, Social Club,Video Club, English Speakers' Club, etc.), pronunciation
classes of both British and American English and parties to celebrate traditional
English holidays (Halloween, Christmas, Valentine's Day, All Fools' Day, contests, etc.)
